In the UK over a million people are employed as carers and millions more provide informal care and support for relatives and friends. The Department of Health has drawn up a code of practice acknowledging that everyone involved in care provision needs training to tackle the risk of Health Care Acquired Infection (HCAI).
This new CIEH qualification is designed as an introduction to hygiene and ensures that vulnerable people are not exposed to unnecessary risks. Aimed at those working directly with patients/clients, including those in the private and voluntary healthcare sectors, to play their part in recognizing the causes of infection, assessing risks and maintaining a clean and safe environment.
Course Objective
Upon successful completion of the training program and final assessment, candidates will have a good understanding of the:
• Terminology used in good hygiene practice
• Relationship of hazard and risk in prioritizing action
• Relevant legislation relating to hygiene practice
• Concepts of hygiene hazards and infection control
• Importance of good personal hygiene
• Need for high standards of cleanliness to help prevent infection
£370.00 for up to 12 candidates
£20.00 per person thereafter
A theory based course over 3 hours, plus a 15 question multiple choice paper – too which a pass rate of 10 has been set.
Each candidate will receive a full colour book, Hygiene in Health and Social Care.
